BreakLine Case Studies
BreakLine case studies for transitioning military encapsulate a series of situations, decisions, and challenges that service members frequently face as they move into business careers. Dozens of veterans graciously contributed content to each case. They recounted their toughest moments and conversations so that peers could learn from their successes and mistakes. We co-teach our cases with veterans in tech during our free monthly digital classes. We also provide subsequent resume reviews for attendees. Sign up below to join us!
BreakLine Boots to Business Case 1
This case covers the early transition process. It focuses on how to advocate for yourself with civilian employers who may not understand your experience, how to recover when things go wrong in an informational interview, general business etiquette, and how to find and go after roles that interest you (even when they aren’t publicly posted).
BreakLine Boots to Business Case 2
This case demystifies the interview process. It focuses on the types of interviews and stages to expect between a first “coffee chat” and an offer, common strategic communications pitfalls (e.g. elevator pitch, translating your story, executive presence), how to wind up in a position to choose from attractive alternatives (versus taking the first/only offer on the table), and how to negotiate your compensation.
