Congratulations to John Bylen on joining TIBCO! Johnny shares part of his story here:
“I had a wonderful childhood in southern California. But, my father’s business failed during the housing crisis when I was in high school. We lost everything. There was no money for college, so I joined the Army to pay for it.
I went to the University of Tennessee, where I met my wife, Kim. I looked for my path in the military and found it when I learned about bomb disposal.
I loved that the unit was comprised of a small group of high performers. And of course, you got to blow things up. My inner 10-year-old thought that was cool.
The bigger draw was that it was an expertise that the Army desperately needed. I knew I could be of service here.
I went on to do some high-impact missions in Afghanistan. By the end of 2019, I was ready to come home. I learned about BreakLine Education through one of my Army buddies, Ryan Colburn.
BreakLine connected me to Ben Stein, another BreakLine alum at TIBCO. I knew right away that I belonged at this company.
I’ve been working at TIBCO for two years as a Value Engineer.
I’m building my own team now, and I look at both skillset and attitude. Skills are easy to evaluate, so I pay special attention to attitude. Does this person balance humility and confidence? Can they communicate well? Are they team players?
I’m proud that many BreakLine alums have now joined TIBCO. Amanda Saavedra and Sheri Holt are lights-out hires.
My wife, Kim, is over the moon with my new career. It’s given us a lot of joy to be reunited and to have the stability we needed to start a family. We got to stay in Colorado and raise our kids here. I’m incredibly grateful.”
