BreakLiner Yeon-ho Kim recently joined TileDB, Inc. as a demand generation marketing manager!
This is part of his story:
“Before BreakLine, I’d been in plenty of interviews where it was clear the interviewer had barely skimmed my resume. When I started interviewing with TileDB, I was really surprised at how many people were already familiar with me.
Turns out, BreakLine has a point person for each partner, so not only did I get a warm introduction to TileDB, they were getting a warm intro to me, too. The folks I spoke with were up to speed on what I’d done and we had much richer and deeper conversations.
When I met with Stavros Papadopoulos, the CEO at TileDB, he shared an amazing vision for the company. I met with the marketing team and built confidence that I could contribute. The whole process was fast: from the first interview to signing in only two weeks!
I really love everybody there, and the culture is great, too. TileDB means it when they say they’re transparent. Feedback is instant and communication is very clear. I believe the company is going to help in many more ways than people realize, for example, with newborn genetic sequencing.
In terms of advice, I realized during my search that the effort I put in is what I’m going to get back. A side effect of putting that effort in is that I developed strong bonds with other BreakLiners who went through the program with me.
Secondly – I tutored years ago. During that time, I realized the people who need the most help aren’t usually the ones asking for it. A few weeks into working with BreakLine, I realized I was one of those people, and I needed to drop my ego. I came to BreakLine for a reason, and I decided to utilize the resources available to me. Once I asked for help, I got it immediately; I only wish I’d asked sooner!”
Congratulations, Yeonho! Best wishes for an amazing career at TileDB. Thanks to Seema Sheth-Voss and Paul Ravkin for their partnership with BreakLine Education!
