We are so delighted for Claire Bell, a BreakLine Education alum who recently joined Highwire as a Client Success Manager. Claire shares her story below:
“I grew up in England in public housing; my mom is from Spain (which is why I speak Catalan) and my dad is British.
I moved to the United States when I was a teenager. I was very driven, but as an immigrant, I didn’t think it was possible to go to college. My parents did not graduate from high school, and tuition was out of reach.
One day I passed by an Army recruiting center and learned that the military covers the cost of undergraduate degrees.
I enlisted and over the course of my basic training, I fell in love with the military. I enrolled in college and ROTC before going on to become an active duty officer.
Over time, I gained U.S. citizenship, a clearance, and I became an intel officer in a special operations unit.
After serving for 10 years, I decided to seek a career in tech. The BreakLine team got to know me and what I wanted for my next chapter.
They could see that Highwire was a great fit.
And it’s true: now that I’m at Highwire, it definitely feels like home.
Cole Henderson, the director of customer success at Highwire, also served in the Army. Even during the interview process, he encouraged me to continue with the Reserves so that I could retire from military service with full benefits in 4 years.
I’ve always been a strong person – I had to be. But it was scary to seek a change outside of the military.
I want to thank BreakLine for everything. I never imagined that I would live this dream. I’ve been given so much opportunity, and I pinch myself every single day. It’s hard for me to express how blessed I feel.”
