BreakLine Education alum Katherine Hogan joined Evolv Technology as an account executive. We are happy to share part of her story!
“My family has a legacy of service: my parents both had day jobs, but were also very active in community service. My father joined the local fire department after 9/11, my mom was active in the church, and my sister was part of the junior fire department.
As I got older, their example drew me to the Army. My ROTC experience in college solidified my desire to serve. I wanted to give back to my country, and that desire drew me to the Army. I spent 10 years in the Army as a logistician. I enjoyed it! After a decade,I knew it was time to transition to something new.
I started reaching out to veterans who had successfully transitioned careers. Johnny Bylen and I had been stationed together in Colorado. He recommended BreakLine to me. I almost didn’t believe that this opportunity existed!
Their team recommended Evolv, and I was hired within 8 days of my first interview! The technology itself, software combined with hardware, is really cool. And the mission resonates with me deeply: protect our communities, protect our citizens, protect our kids. We think about how to keep schools, hospitals, and public spaces safe. It’s a dream to be part of a team that is so invested in this mission. How could I not get behind that? Everyone in America can appreciate that.
For anyone considering a new professional chapter, my advice is to look for companies that care about character, kindness, and work ethic. Layer on a mission that matters to you. Once you find that combination, it will be easy from there!”
Katie, we’re so happy for you, Kayla Costa, Kayleigh Moquin, and the rest of the team at Evolv!
