BreakLiner Megan Edwards has joined Affirm as Senior Manager for International Expansion! Here is part of her story:
“I grew up in a great neighborhood in Maryland, just outside of Washington, DC. When I was a kid, my sibling passed away. It was devastating for our family and had a huge impact on who I am today.
As the only remaining child, I developed the drive not just to succeed, but to be at my best, to leave a legacy on behalf of my family.
In high school, I became co-captain of my varsity dance team, while earning straight-As. People called me a natural-born leader, although it took time for me to see that in myself. I went on and graduated from college with a degree in corporate finance. I joined Bank of America, where I had a great mentor who encouraged me to earn an MBA, with a concentration in project management.
After finishing my MBA, I jumped into a big role at a startup. I got comfortable being uncomfortable. I later accepted an opportunity to lead enterprise-wide initiatives at Wells Fargo.
Just when I felt open to new challenges again, Chelsea Conley told me about BreakLine. Even though I had great professional experience, taking the next step in your career can be overwhelming. BreakLine’s help was huge – I only wish I’d found them sooner.
BreakLine connected me with Affirm, and I knew immediately: that’s my company! When Affirm offered me my dream role, I didn’t need 24 hours to consider. I signed on the spot.
My father passed away in 2016, so now it’s just me and my mom. She tells me all the time: ‘Your dad would be really proud of you.’ It’s reassuring to know that I’m living that legacy.”
